Greetings to all fellow NOBUG members. My company is looking for a help desk tech or, as the position is officially called, a 'Micro Computer Technician'. Most of the people I've met at NOBUG meetings are horribly over-qualified for this position, since it is entry level, but perhaps you know someone just right for the job. Essential Functions: Primary contact for computer help desk ensuring responses are handled in a timely and appropriate manner. (60%) Configure and install PC stations to meet company standards. (20%) Administration of E-mail users so requests are met. (5%) Administration of all users on Network so appropriate requests for user accounts are met. (5%) Manage computer inventory log to ensure capital asset management and warranty usage. (5%) Administer tape back-up and restore data as requested. (5%) Other Functions: Other duties as assigned. Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions: Must be able to read, write, and communicate verbally in English. Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required. Must be able to stand and/or sit for up to eight hours per day. Must be able to respond to emergency situations quickly and appropriately. Must be able to use telephone without the use of TDD. Must have the manual dexterity for operation of keyboard and/or ten key. Must be able to climb stairs. Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50# on an regular basis. Must be able to perform occasional bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching. Must be able to list, type and write numbers in a specific order. Must be able to work flexible hours as needed. Must be able to drive a motor vehicle. Must be able to provide proof of a good driving record and insurability. Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use. Working knowledge of basic math, English grammar, writing, and spelling. Must be able to move about within the work center, periodically bending or kneeling, frequently twisting the upper body and reaching and squeezing with the hands on a repetitive basis. Must be able to visually locate and inspect small parts and assemble parts at a close distance. Must be able to convey and receive detailed or important instructions or information. Must be able to deal with and maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds. Must be able to accept change. Must be able to maintain a high level of concentration while handling multiple priorities/tasks. Must be able to function flexibly and cooperatively in a high-stress, multi-task environment. Must have strong organizational skills. Must have the ability to understand and meet deadlines. Minimum Education and Experience: Associate degree with one year work experience as a Computer Technician or two years work experience as a Computer Technician. Substitute for Experience and Education Requirement: Combined experience that would demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to meet the requirements of this position.
